
Carrie Sparrevohn, BS, LM
Carrie Sparrevohn has worked as a midwife for over 25 years. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from the University of California at Riverside and a certificate of completion from Seattle Midwifery School’s California Challenge Process.
Ms Sparrevohn served as the President of the California Association of Midwives for 5 years, she began a small non-profit, involved in rural health care in Uganda, and she is currently a member of the Midwifery Advisory Council of the Medical Board of California. She is the recipient of the 2007, California Association of Midwives, Brazen Woman award, given by her peers for outstanding work in midwifery, and of the 2008 “Women Making a Difference” award from her local Soroptimist’s chapter, for her work in Uganda.
Above all Ms Sparrevohn enjoys being present with women as they journey through their pregnancies, motherhood, and into menopause. She is a good listener, and always strives to take the time with each woman that is needed to provide them with optimal care. She holds a fundamental belief that women are powerful and believes their birth experiences can be empowering events in their lives. She would see a world where all women are supported to birth in safety and in ways that empower them as women.
Ms Sparrevohn is the mother of 7 and the grandmother of 5. In her spare time she enjoys reading historical fiction, gardening, travel and writing.
